Own My Horse is the central online place that ends a significant problem in the equestrian world: uncertainty about ownership. Whose horse is this? Today that is nowhere consistently registered. The passport is not proof of ownership, and anyone can request it. Own My Horse offers an online place where ownership is recorded clearly.

How does it work?

In the secure digital database of Own My Horse you can record every detail and agreement, including photographs and videos. Think of the veterinary file, the insurance papers, and the pedigree.

Selling your horse? You can show a prospective buyer the details with a QR code. Does the sale go ahead? Then you can transfer the horse and the file with a registration code and proof of identity. That keeps the transfer of ownership safe and transparent. It also puts you in a stronger position in a consumer-sale dispute, because the health of the horse at the moment of sale is clear to you and to the buyer.

How do I create a horse record?

Start with the information already available in the passport:

  2. Register the horse by carefully entering its UELN, passport details, and profile information.
  3. Store the Ownmyhorse registration code securely; treat it as a sensitive product credential.
  4. Add relevant documents, photographs, appointments, owners, and authorized people.
Which steps keep a horse record useful over time?

Treat the record as an ongoing history rather than a one-time form:

  1. Add new documents and appointment information when something changes.
  2. Keep identity and ownership details aligned with the authoritative records you hold.
  3. Review who has access and remove an authorization when that person’s role ends.
  4. Check the record before a sale, handover, or important appointment so outdated information can be corrected.
How do I organize and share horse documents?

Upload documents to the relevant horse record so they remain connected to that horse’s history. Sharing is deliberate:

  1. Choose the eligible document you need to share.
  2. Check who should receive access and why.
  3. Use the appropriate controlled workflow, such as read-only sharing during a pending transfer.
  4. Review or remove access when it is no longer needed.

Documents are not automatically made public or all shared together. Avoid sending sensitive horse documents through ordinary email.

How do co-owners and authorized people work?

The horse record can represent private or business legal owners, ownership shares, co-owners, and authorized agents. Give each person only the role and permissions they need. Sensitive actions can require approval from the appropriate owners, and access should be removed when a person’s responsibility ends.

Which steps are involved in transferring ownership?

A transfer is completed by both seller and buyer:

  1. The seller starts the transfer using the buyer’s email address, selects any eligible read-only documents, and adds an agreement when appropriate.
  2. The buyer opens or creates an account with that email address, reviews the horse identity and shared material, and accepts or declines.
  3. After acceptance and any required owner approvals or fee, the ownership history advances and the new owner receives a new registration code.

A pending transfer can be cancelled by the seller. A completed ownership change remains part of the record’s history.

How does Ownmyhorse relate to official passports and registrations?

Ownmyhorse is a private digital record for identity, documents, appointments, and ownership workflows. It does not replace a horse passport, studbook registration, government register, or another statutory obligation. Keep those official records current and use their information carefully when maintaining the Ownmyhorse record.
